Vox Hunt: Comical

okay. it wasn't in that damnable amazon search engine (fecking monopolies) but check out Chris Ware's The Adventures of Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth. You won't regret it.
That's odd that it wasn't in there. I have read it, though, and you're right--love it. I like Chris Ware a lot. Hmm....and Jimmy Corrigan does seem right up your alley.
okay. it was sort of in there. just not the exact right copy. and i wanted the exact right copy, because, well i haven't read the other copies and can't vouch for them. and because I read this exact copy after reading a Smetanka review in the Independent, and i didn't want to do him a disservice by passing on faulty info. or something.
Well, it's certainly understandable. I love that boy Smetanka.
No Marvel? ;o
i read miller's dark night when it came out in the 80s. i was never a comic book nut, but i really, really liked that series. for the first time in my comic reading experience a super hero wasn't entirely super. he had demons and doubts and his heroic efforts weren't entirely pure. he was flawed in other words. it's the same reason hard boiled crime/noir appeals to me. cause life, even a super hero's life, aint all black and white. it seems a super hero should have super demons, and when his muscles are sore, they should be super sore.
