QotD: My First Kiss
Tell us about your first kiss. Who was it with? How old were you?
My first kiss was, I suppose, in third grade. It was about as deep and passionate as third graders are capable of being. The boy was Todd Lenzini, the goalkeeper of my soccer team. I played defense, so we spent a lot of time together in the back. He used to pick dandelions for me from the field. Fortunately our forwards were fairly good, so the ball didn't come our way inordinately often. Not enough to break up our little idyll.
I remember one day at recess he told me that one of the boys on our team liked me. I begged him to tell me. We played this game where he would tell me a letter that was somewhere in his name, and then I had to guess all the boys whose name had that letter. It was maddening, especially since his name kept coming up but he denied it. When the bell rang, he told me to go to the tires (you know, those tractor tires that playgrounds used to always have that are set on end and partially buried, making a kind of shelter or...I don't know what those are all about because they're not really fun, but in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where we were at the time, they made nice shelters from the shade), and he would leave a note telling me who liked me. So I did. And, of course, it was his name, spelled out with rocks. I guess he skipped lunch to write it. And then he walked up behind me and asked me what I thought or something. Todd was the cutest guy on our team, easily, plus there was the whole dandelion-picking business, so like any girl, I immediately began planning our wedding. We sat in the tire and experimented with dangerous adult things like holding hands all that recess. And then we kissed--electromagnetic peck on the lips.
Sadly, Todd moved shortly thereafter, and so my wedding plans had to be canceled. I swore off men forever, too, at least until I met Jami Hepler in the fourth grade.

Ahhh - fond memories at University Hills Elementary. Well... I would be said Todd Lenzini. I remember picking dandilions in the field, and I most certainly was the cutest boy on the team -but I don't think became goal keeper until 4th grade. I left University Hills when I got rezoned for Hill Rise Elementary and moved after the 5th grade. You probably remember we were a military family - and that move lead us back to Hawaii. I thought after me you had your eye on a young lad from the barn dance. But my memory isn't too sharp in Elementary matters.
I do remember you teaching me to make wishes on puffy dandilions. Those were good times.
I'm all grown up now with a wife (Lana) and two children (Tabitha and Wesley). I'm sure Lana wishes I would have been "romanticly rock creative" when proposing to her. <wink> Glad you are well! It was a nice nostalgic moment when I stumbled on your blog. We had a good laugh about your first kiss with me.
Sincerely,
Todd

Well...Todd...I am really and truly flabbergasted. How on earth did you stumble across this? Wow. I did remember that you went back to Hawaii, etc., but I really thought you were goalie in 3rd grade. Oh, well. An otherwise perfect memory, eh?
It's so unbelievably great to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing well. Your children are absolutely gorgeous. I have to say, too, you still, well, kind of look like Todd.
You definitely should have done the rock thing when you proposed. Only, she might have known that it was you who wanted to marry her and not some other guy on the soccer team. Hee. Anyway, whatever you did must have been romantic enough. Congratulations!
So good to hear from you!
