QotD: *blushes*
What compliment are you most often given?
That I'm intimidating. That's a compliment, right?
The compliment that meant the most, though, is that two of my professors--the two who taught me the most, who most completely kicked my mental ass, the two who shepherded me through the minefields of Chomskyan linguistics and Kantian ethics--told me that I was gifted and encouraged me to continue on to Ph.D. work.
Also, once someone told me I look like Demi Moore. That person was clearly blinded by the fact that I look nothing like her at all.
Oh, right...most often: Intimidating, followed by flippant, formidable, and funny.
And alliterative.
What do you mean "flippant" isn't a compliment either? Feh.

I ended with "feh" just for you.
I keep thinking about getting my Ph.D., but since I would have to take out loans to get it and there is no guarantee of a reasonable job afterwards, it seems economically risky for my family, you know? I wouldn't want Condi's job, though. I like teaching. *sigh* I would love to teach philosophy. Philosophy was my first true love.
That "Feh" is just the bomb!
Well, if you want that PhD, then I'm sure you'll find a way. Just seems crazy to let a thing like money get in the way of dreams when you're sitting on so much more potential. You could think about coming down here and working-studying at the same time. We're so short of workers it's not funny. Even in academia.
Just a thought.
That would kind of depend on the context I think. I mean, if you're a grief counselor...then probably not. ;)
